How Is Thrive Pediatrics (A Direct Primary Care Model) Different Than the Typical Insurance Based Pediatric Practice?

Scenario 1:

Imagine your 4 year old wakes up before school with a fever, cold symptoms red eyes and crying because his ears hurt.  You call your Pediatrician’s office and either get a voicemail or talk to a triage nurse.  You might get lucky and snag an afternoon appointment but more likely they tell you there are no spots available and to try urgent care or come in tomorrow

At Thrive Pediatrics (Direct Primary Care Model): You text Dr. K directly. She responds and tell you, no problem!  I’ll be at the office at 8 am, can you bring him in then?  

*No More urgent cares during office hours

*No More crossing your fingers in hopes of getting in that day

*No more talking to people other than your DOCTOR

Scenario 2:

Now your child is not feeling well on the weekend, fevers, cold symptoms and a new rash on their body.  They’ve had 3 days of fevers and you aren’t sure what to do.  You call the nurse triage line and they send you to the urgent care or WORSE the Emergency Room when you likely don’t need to.

At Thrive Pediatrics: You text Dr. K for urgent issues over the weekend.  If it’s more emergent, then you give Dr. K a call.  More than likely, in this case, its not an emergency and she can walk you through when it is.  You can send a picture of the rash and find out its viral.  She will put you on the schedule for Monday morning and be available through the weekend if things change for more instructions. 

*No unneeded urgent cares/emergency visits (COSTLY!)

*No more advice from random people on facebook mom groups!

*Talk only to your DOCTOR and rest easy that someone is right there with you!
